Leadership facilitation is the process moderation of meeting by teams of leaders in an organisation or the facilitation of a set methodological process used at the leadership level in the organisation.
Andi Roberts works with leadership teams so that they can focus on what needs to be discussed, developed and decided rather than how to go about making the meeting or series of meetings effective.
Andi ensures that his meetings are focused, productive, engaging and energised. All of this combines to makes meetings with outcomes that people are committed to.
Sounds simple, but there is a lot that needs to happen for leadership meetings to be incredibly effective:
|
Prior to a meeting, Andi:
- Researches the meeting and organisation before it happens.
- Finds out the purpose and goal of the meeting and how this fits in to the wider organisation.
- Establishes with the client who needs to attend and why.
- Develops a draft agenda and design the group processes to attain the necessary results.
- Shares the agenda with key stakeholders and adapt if necessary.
- Ensures everyone gets fully briefed for the meeting and that everyone knows the purpose and potential consequences of the meeting.
|
 |
During the meeting, Andi in the role of facilitator :
- Monitors the agenda, to keep it on track.
- Keeps time, so each part of the process gets full value.
- Manage the group process, to maximize the synergies of all in the meeting.
- Encourage participation from all attendees, as everyone has good ideas.
- Help participants understand different points of view, as there is no one "truth".
- Fosters solutions that incorporate diverse points of view, so no "group think" occurs.
- Manages participant behavior, so that everyone can be challenged but not challenging.
- Create a safe environment, where people say what they want to say rather than what they think they should say.
- Teach new thinking and facilitating skills so that the leaders can return back to their teams and use the same techniques.
- Records (with an agreed phraseology) agreements and also notes unresolved issues for later debate.
- If agreed, writes up and publishes the results of the meeting to everyone concerned including those who could not attend.
