I was recently working on a "Graduate Development Programme" for a client and was asked by several people to recomend some books for them to read to help them with their work in general. Here is a list of some of the books that I consider essential "management" reads:
1) The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People - Covey ( A must read) 2) What Got You Here Won't Get You There - Goldsmith (influence & career success) 3) De Bono's Thinking Course - De Bono (Thinking tools) 4) The Wisdom of Teams - Katzenbach et al (basics of teamwork) 5) The Mind Map Book - Buzan (thinking tool) 6) Play to Win - Wilson ( Great self coaching) 7) NLP at Work - Knight (Great practical NLP book) 8) The Back of the Napkin - Roam (visual problem solving) 9) Inner Game of work - Gallwey (great techniques for focus / self coaching) 10) StrengthsFinder 2.0 - Rath (Great survey included and helps you work to your best strengths) 11) Getting things done - Allen (Time management)
I could add more books, but if these 11 are read and the ideas implemented the people will become strong business contributers!
Clearly my choice if influenced by my thinking preferences - I am an iNTj on the MBTI
