Code Breaker Challenge

Looking to create shared understanding?

Wanting to show the value collaboration?

Want to see the real results of working together instead of separate teams, departments of divisions?

Interested in seeing how teams become more effective when people play to their strengths?

This and much more can be achieved with “Code breaker challenge”.

A quick overview

Indoor or outdoor experiential learning activity.

Two team challenges wrapped into one longer event.

Involve the completing table top activities to receive pieces of a code that they must crack. Initial code seems to be small team focused but isn’t.

The second code requires everyone to work together to crack.

Activity takes 2 hours; the review lasts from 30 minutes to several hours.

A facilitator manages the activity and reviews with the group their learning.

Can be used in conferences, trainings and retreats.

Code Breaker Scenario

Task: Break the codes as quick as possible.

Phase 1 – A 16 letter code has to be broken.

Each letter is awarded to the team when they complete a small activity.

Activities are small problems to be solved and includes creative, mathematical, logical and artistic ones.

The teams must decide who does what.

Success on phase 1 allows teams to move to phase 2.

Phase 2, The giant puzzle - Each person is given a piece of the puzzle that they may not show or draw. The team must figure out how all of the pieces connect together to create success. Teams left behind on phase one will hamper the total team success on phase two.

Some of the learning areas that the activity develops include:

  • Decision making

  • Playing to strengths and team roles

  • Working under pressure

  • Creativity

  • Managing complex problems

  • Knowledge management

Some of the key features and benefits of the activity:

  • Can be run in three hours and with extensive reviewing taken to 5 hours.

  • Group size from 6 to 6000.

  • Can be played any where, any time, and any weather.

  • Allows for powerful debriefings and interactive discussions focused on the key business issues of today.

Andi Roberts can deliver Code breaker Challenge in English or Spanish, in Spain or any global location.
